01 · Prospecting

The work starts before the tender.

Most projects are shaped by the time they're advertised. We're in those early conversations with owners, developers and consultants.

02 · Qualifying

Say no early.

We test every lead against the firm's strengths, capacity and margin, so the team only pursues work it can win and deliver.

03 · Pursuit

One relationship, start to finish.

Meetings, site visits, budgets and proposals run through one person who knows the file and the firm.

04 · Negotiating

Won on trust, not lowest price.

We shape scope, schedule and terms so the award comes by negotiation, invitation or cost-plus, not bid day.

05 · Award and delivery

One project leads to the next.

We stay embedded with the firm and the owner through delivery and beyond. Work delivered well is how the next one is won.

How we work

Embedded, accountable, and upfront about it.

Land's End Origination is the Ottawa practice of Keaton Ambrose. We run business development and growth strategy from inside a small number of construction and real estate firms, under their names and as part of their teams. Here is how that works, and what we disclose.

Annual commitments

We commit to each firm for a year at a time. Pipelines and relationships take that long to build, and it means we are still there when the work we helped win is being delivered.

Never two competitors

We work inside a few firms at a time and never two that chase the same work. Two builders can sit side by side only when they serve different sizes, sectors or markets, so their pipelines never meet.

You always know who we represent

Every first message says which firm we are acting for. On a firm's files we carry its title and speak for it, not for Land's End.

How we are paid

The firms we represent pay us: a retainer, a success fee on contracts we help bring in, or both. Advisory and partnership work on specific projects is billed hourly, to the firm, under the same agreement. Owners and developers never pay us directly: business development and marketing are the firm's own overhead, not a cost passed to its clients. If you engage one of our firms, you pay that firm for the work.

Conflicts

If a pursuit could put two of our firms at odds, we tell both before we act and step back from it.

Confidentiality

What a firm or an owner shares with us stays with them. We never carry one firm's information to another.
